Kellin’s high-speed Wi-Fi is powered by Tarana, fixed microwave access (FWA) technology that makes reliable internet available anywhere. This network is deployed on close-range towers, leading to low latency and weather resistance. Tarana’s next-gen technology provides a reliable internet connection, even in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions.
This technology is much easier to set up than fiber or cable, requiring no excavation. It provides reliable internet without the costs and set-up headaches associated with cabled networks. It is one of the more cost-effective solutions in rural areas.
What does that mean? Let us walk you through a setup.
Fixed Wireless Transmission Tower
Often a cell tower, this structure serves as the base station for Tarana’s fixed wireless transmitter. This tower infrastructure is a main reason why Kellin can provide reliable internet connection in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions.
Fixed Antenna Receiver
The next piece of equipment to install is a fixed antenna receiver on the roof of your home or business. The fixed antenna is mounted securely to withstand Colorado’s variable weather conditions.
Cabling
An ethernet cable connects your roof antenna to a power supply within your home. The power supply is connected to an Eero Wi-Fi router, which distributes internet connection to your computers, TVs, and other devices.
Kellin Setup Process for Your Home or Business
The entire Kellin internet setup process takes less than an hour, once the site survey has been completed and you’ve registered for service. Here’s what goes into in-home setup for your Kellin Wi-Fi.
Site Survey
A Kellin technician will come to your home or business to confirm that you are within range of our towers.
Antenna Installation
A Kellin technician will mount your antenna to your roof. Extra care is taken to ensure a secure mount to prevent disruption in the case of high winds or extreme weather. Kellin’s antenna is a small box, not much bigger than a security camera. Technician’s can usually place them in inconspicuous places, like behind a fireplace chimney or a roof vent.
Wiring, Power Supply, & Router Connection
A Kellin technician will run an ethernet cable from the roof antenna to a power supply. They will then connect your Eero router to the power supply, which delivers internet connection to your in-home devices.
Testing and Activation
The installer tests the connection for signal strength and speed, makes any necessary adjustments, and ensures your devices can access the internet.
The Tarana setup process is significantly less involved than a fiber or cable internet buildout, making it one of the quickest to install and most cost-effective internet options for rural Colorado.
The Tarana Difference
Beyond being faster and easier to setup than fiber, cable or DSL networks, Tarana is a next-generation technology that provides many innovative technological features, including:
- Advanced Interference Cancellation
- NLOS Capability
- Beamforming Technology
